  Dear Peter Burns,

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act, I request that you provide me with:

A complete list of all overturned parking tickets in all Surrey parking lots that are secured
through ICBC during the year of 2017, January through December of 2017. Also would like
a number of disputed parking tickets but were ultimately upheld.

If possible please provide me with the information electronically through email in any format to avoid any issues through the mail. The email I would like it sent to is: tanjot_purewal19@hotmail.com

If there are any other further questions or concerns upon my request feel free to contact me at (604)-445-3487 or through email at tanjot_purewal19@hotmail.com.

Explanation for request:

There are many reasons why parking tickets get overturned, you could have a really good case as to why you didn't deserve to get ticketed. The parking meter could've been out of order at the particular moment, maybe you had a really good reason as to why you weren't able to get back to your car on time, or maybe you just missed your time on the meter and were ticketed. These are the many reasons why people dispute there parking tickets and get them overturned. I am interested in finding out the number and percentage of parking tickets that are overturned. With this request I hope to uncover how many of the parking violations were either unnecessary or even just overly expensive parking tickets , and my goal is to figure out the percentage of the total disputed tickets get overturned.

  2. I liked that you were detailed in your request about the information you wish to obtain. I think it would be interesting to see how many people were given unnecessary or overly expensive parking tickets, as you mentioned in your explanation. I also think it would be interesting to get the same information from other cities and compare them.

  3. I think this is a great idea for a FOI request because it’s really interesting to see how many parking tickets in general do get over turned. Maybe also asking for the number one reason why parking tickets get overturned would be great to include in the FOI request because people would be really interested in that too.

  5. Your FOI request is interesting to see how many people got unwanted expensive tickets . It's a legit big issue people face every other day. People would be also interested in knowing the percentage of people disputed because they are way too expensive.

  6. I think your FOI request is very interesting. I think that parking tickets are a big issue in Surrey and many times people may get really expensive tickets for minor things or something that was not even their fault. It would be interesting to know how many parking tickets are overturned to get to know more about the effectiveness of parking tickets.
